Where the heck is steam QR code?
Ok. I had already logged up in PC, browser and app since about 3 months ago. I wanted to make a trade and I needed to confirm the trade via Steam, but they send me a message about needing to autenticate. When I tried, it wanted for me to scan some QR with my phone's cammera, but I can't seem to find where does it is supposed to be.

in the Steam app on your phone, click on the shield icon at the bottom to bring up the authenticator, that's where the scanner of the QR code is.

But my phone is what is requiring the QR, and I have no other phone with steam. I actually got this phone because my last one just took a dive from a second floor.
Sorry if I sounds mad, I didn't mean to be mean with someone that's trying to help, I'm just very confused and frustrated.
Thanks for taking the time.

Trades are not authenticated via QR.

Was the authenticator migrated to your current phone, or is that what you're trying to do?

There should be an option along the lines of "I no longer have access to my authenticator" that should be helpful either directing you through migration or to Support so they can remove the authenticator.

QR Codes can be used to log into a session using your phone

Trade or Market authentications will be sent to the Steam Authenticator on your phone. If your phone is requiring a QR code to log in, it means

1) you wiped the phone which wiped the authenticator
2) you've been phished and the attacker took over your authenticator

You are not meant to use the Steam website on the phone anyway.

If you really want to, use one of the other 2FA methods.

Edit for people from the future who googled and got here. Sign out of steam, when you do that there will be a QR code to sign in which you need to do to enable steam guard.

Man people are dumb.

I am having the same issue.

I want to trade, but to make it so I do not have to wait 15 days I have to set up steam guard.

Steam guard wants me to scan the "QR CODE"

BUT

Nothing on my steam account on my PC has a QR code to scan, nothing in my email, it wants me to scan a QR code to set up steam guard without telling me how to get said QR code.

That is why people are upset when they ask for help and people be like "ya don't need a QR code!" "Scan the code!".

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
