Changing the downloads region
So I wanted to buy Dragon’s Dogma 2 but the game isn’t available on steam in my region (UAE). I did manage to buy a key for the game but did not activate so I refunded it. Then later on I noticed the change downloads region option in settings, changed to the US and restarted steam. The game appears in the shop and I’m to buy it like I would normally do with any game. Question is, what would happen if I bought the game then changed my region back to UAE? Would I lose access to the game? Would keeping the region to US affect the rest of my games? Thanks.

Probably some odd glitch that required a restart to get it to show.

Download region has nothing to do with steam store region.
It just changes from which regional Steam servery your game download files come.
The only way to change steam store region is to be physically in that country and then buy something on the store with a regional payment method of that country.

Also you can only change store country once every 3 months like that.

Yes thank you, I knew the bit about changing the store country, and that’s why I was confused on the appearance of the game in my store after simply changing the download region and restarting. Any idea what would happen in case I go ahead and buy the game? Noting that my store region should still be UAE while the downloads region is set to USA.

I see, thanks everyone for your feedback. I will revert my downloads region back to the UAE and check if it’s still available for purchase after the restart. The game was indeed ubanned in the UAE few weeks ago but has been since available for purchase for PS5 only, not on steam, thus the above post was made. Will confirm what happens after i get home. Thanks again.

I'm in Kuwait and I was able to preorder the game and buy it and am playing it. But now I can't access its store page or DLC pages anymore. Why did it get banned from the Kuwait store?? I checked SteamDB and says no sales were made since April 8. Why? This makes no sense? Only 2 stores in the whole world, Kuwait and Russia. What do these 2 have anything to do with the game? The first game is available on the PSN no problem. So what's going? Anyone have any ideas?

Unavailable in Russia due to sanctions
Ban in Kuwait probably due to local laws

But it's so random. It was fine until April 8. What happened since then? I can't think of any issues with this game that would prevent a band when so many FAR WORSE games are available with no issues. Honesntly. I've never heard of Kuwait banning any game on Steam or the PSN. This has to be a far deeper issue. Physical DIscs I can see being rejected to enter the country. But for digital media? Not a single game has been banned in Kuwait. Even hentai games are available in the Steam Store. So what's going on here?
