PC lags when downloading games on steam

Hey guys, Whenever I download a game from steam and play another game at the same time I get serious input lag with the keyboard only, I'm guessing this is a steam issue, because when i use any other launcher like battlenet I can play games fine, does anyone know how to fix this?

4080 super
32gb ram
mp600 4tb m.2

1gbit fiber? Stop your antivirus from scanning anything to do with steam. AV will eat your CPU while downloading, this is more so with compressed downloads that need to be extracted and installed as this all happens while downloading.

My PC doing the same thing when steam downloading or updating this is a new steam bug or something it wasn't like this before
i was downloading the new CS2 update couple minutes ago my mouse and cursor lagged while doing the update is there any solutions?

Steam downloads are highly CPU and Disk IO intensive

This is especially true if you are patching a game

This is why steam, by default, does not download games/patches in the background while you're playing a game. Because this can cause CPU and disk contention which can result in

* lower FPS
* stuttering
* long load time
* other issues

If you set steam to download things in the background while you're playing, you basically agree that any or all of the above might happen.

Steam's downloads are compressed in archives, as they're downloaded, you CPU is used to extract the archives, this is a very CPU intensive task, hence why the default behaviour for Steam is to pause downloads while you're playing another game.

Nothing is wrong with your PC or Steam.
