NEED HELP ASAP - XBOX 360 Controller Not Working on M1 Mac/Parallels

Greetings, Steam Community,

This is my first time posting here, and I really hope someone can help me. So the problem is, I have an XBOX 360 wired USB controller that I used for years with my old Mac without issue. I downloaded Bootcamp Assistant and the controller worked fine on Windows, no third-party drivers, nothing, zero issue.

But now that I have a newer M1 Macbook Air laptop, I downloaded the latest version of Parallels thinking it would be the same. However, much to my chagrin, my laptop doesn't recognize my controller, neither in Windows nor in MacOS. No matter what I do, I plug in the controller, it lights up for about 2 seconds, and then it gives me this:

"Unable to connect "Controller" to "Windows 11" now. Try to connect this USB device later".

I tried following the instructions it gave me, but the controller doesn't even show up on connected USB devices. I've tried downloading drivers, I've tried searching for answers online and through YouTube, but nothing seems to work and it's growing increasingly frustrating. I really don't know what to do. If anyone can help me or send me a link with the right driver, or anything, I would greatly appreciate it.

If it's that old and nothing seems to recognize it, have you considered the controller has just died and needs to be replaced?

At a certain point the time and effort you're putting in is going to be worth way more than the cost of a replacement. After a while dogged determination and persistence may just be futility.

I 'm doing what I can, but even if I get a new controller how am I sure I'm not gonna run into the same problem?

I've had a look through Google as well, and it seems that there is no solution - practically no wired drivers will work with the ARM based M1 Macbooks. I'm afraid that you are looking at having to buy a new controller but it won't be an XBox 360 one - it'll have to be an XBox One controller or a DualShock 4, basically a controller that supports Bluetooth as you're going wireless whether you like it or not.
