Why is my download speed horrendous?

So I wonder why can i only download 10mb/s? I can normaly download 100mb/s atleast, even the freaking Xbox app is able to download at 80mb/s. Why does steam not use the damn 100mb/s connection? Yes I tried everything and no i did not limit it. Also I tried to clear the cache.

or other worst idea like QoS or bandwide limitation then many share own local lan,

and did you even know about speedtest or bad packet test ( google it )

and even own ISP can get a issue. ( ask own ISP )

dont you know windows resource manager , its your job to know if disk or cpu is working at 100%


and then we dont even talk about ( write behind cache or low disk space or full performance on laptop, do not DL with no power cable , you might enter power safe mode.

laptop user common mistake and think you can do stuff on battery.

alot of things steam user might forget in the what wrong here.

1) ensure you are using Mbit and not MBytes for your visual notation

2) your steam downloads are limtied by

* your CPU
* your disk IO
* your anti-virus killing patching performance
* your ISP

I will take a closer look at the things you have noted above. I apologize for posting this topic in the wrong section, it seems. I appreciate your help. :)

When patching especially look at windows task manager and see what the utilization is on the disk. Universally people who have this issue are seeing 100% utilization on their disk. White listing on your anti-virus for steam directories will limit how much anti-virus scanning will kill disk performance. Though utimately yoru disk will be the limiting factor even with whitelisting
