It really isn't. It's the most used bank in Singapore for a reason, when we have other alternatives.
And the Singapore government is *strict* on large local organisations that many Singaporeans would use.
"Thanks for your comments - we value feedback from the Steam community. I'm forwarding your comments on to the appropriate department.
Additionally, if you wish to share an opinion, suggestion, or idea with the community as well, please visit the Suggestions/Ideas section of the Steam Discussion forums.
This forum is regularly read by Valve's development team.
Moreover, you will have to use an alternative payment method.
You'll be able to see all available payment methods for your region during the checkout process.
If you can't use any of the available payment methods, you may want to consider using a Steam Wallet code to add funds to your account.
Steam Wallet codes are vouchers that can be used to add credit to your Steam Wallet, which is available to users in all regions. Please visit your local game store or retailer's gift card section to find Steam Wallet cards that can be added to your Steam account.
See our Steam Wallet article for more information."
When you have 1/3 of the population using the bank since they were 10, they're not going to be constantly making online reviews.
Only *after* they get a single bad experience after decades of using it do they rant about it online.
I've used this bank myself for 20+ years with little issues. The one time I had some problems this year, I called their hotline at 10pm on a Saturday night, and had it resolved within 15 minutes. I didn't even need to pay anything.
Relying purely on a few reviews online without bothering to understand the context is disingenuous at best.
Not to mention the people here in this thread are telling you, as *Singaporeans about this Singaporean bank*, that the bank is fine. You'd think us Singaporeans who lived here our entire lives would understand the local Singapore banking situation better here than you would as a Brit who spent 20 seconds googling it.
The enemy here is Steam, plain and simple.
Steam caused the issue for us and thus far the replies by their customer service department have been outright lazy if not arrogant.
If the only merchant that is having issues out of the countless merchants is Steam, then Steam is the issue.
Not to mention Steam's handling of the situation is rather atrocious.
- No notification when the block occurred
- No concrete explanation beyond "The payment method you are attempting to use has been restricted from use in our system."
- No appeal available
- No investigation
They tell us its *likely* due to a payment dispute, but they can't confirm it because their records don't go that far back. Yet there's no disputes with our bank and previous payments have all gone through.
And how far back is too far back? Most of our other recent purchases were between 1-3 weeks ago. It's hardly months.
And if they don't notify us when the block occurred on our account, how would we have known to dispute it in time?
"The payment method you are attempting to use has been restricted from use in our system.
This usually indicates that the payment method has been involved in a payment dispute or unauthorized purchasing activity on Steam.
However, we aren't able to identify the event that triggered this restriction. We only keep detailed payment information for a short time, so it is possible that the event that triggered this ban occurred some time ago.
I can't remove this restriction for you. You will need to use an alternate payment method to complete future purchases on Steam.

Really hope they can fix this soon whether Steam or DBS, cause I really do not want to be forced to use Paypal.
POSB DBS Master debit - issue.
Contact support, usual copy paste answers that are useless.
Called bank, bank unaware, bank did not block.
Thinking my card has an issue, i went ahead to replace the card.
Brand new card with brand new number, definitely "activated" since i can use them for amazon etc.
Same issue as previously, except they cant, did not use the payment dispute excuse now (since i have a brand new card with no history), just outright close my support ticket and ask me use another payment method.
I also have same dbs posb bank's but Visa debit. I tried that with no issue. (still works i just tried it before posting this)
Since bank is totally unaware, and steam is giving silly excuse of payment dispute and unauthorized purchasing activity, it is likely steam.
My account is not likely compromised either, since i dont trade marketplace nor gift much, no reason to flag me. I dont do refunds either, so not likely to be a payment dispute.
I hope you guys can solve it!!
