Gifting to Friends in other Regions
So, is there a new rule where we are not allowed to gift to those in other regions now? I have always been able to gift to my friends in USA from here in Australia and vice versa, but as I went to purchase a game for a friend, it told me "Due to regional price differences, the gift you are trying to send cannot be sent to the recipient's region.". I have NEVER had this issue before and have been gifting on steam for years now. Is this a temporary thing or permanent? If it's permanent, it needs to be fixed ASAP.

This rule has been in place for years and there is nothing to fix. Alternatively you can send a digital gift card which can be converted but in terms of price restrictions, they have been in place for a very long time.

Then you never had a game, that had a significant difference in pricing, or a friend from a region, that shows a large difference in general (Southeast Asia and the CIS are the most prominent ones).
Check the value difference between the currencies in advance at steamdb; that will spare you the disappointment if it does not work out. I think, the benchmark of a gifting being blocked was >10% in either direction, but I might be wrong about that number.

It makes no sense. I've had games be $10 or more in price difference with conversion and they've always been able to be gifted. The game I'm trying to gift has $2 in difference and is having an issue

Let's have a look, okay? Which title, from which currency to which?

It's about the percentage difference, not the actual dollar amount. If the price difference exceeds 10% in either direction, than Steam blocks the gift. And game prices are not scaled equally. While you may be able to gift one game, you won't necessarily be able to gift another, as publishers set prices differently for different games.

So I have gifted Palworld AUD > USD
And I want to gift Stardew Valley AUD > USD

Stardew Valley
Australia: 11.21 AUD = 7.43 USD
USA: 9.89 USD (difference is 24.87% = ineligible)
LATAM: 3.29 USD (difference is 66.73% = ineligible)
MENA: 3.95 USD (difference is 60.06% = ineligible)

Interregional gifting is forbidden if the price difference is larger than 10%.

Palworld
Australia: 43.95 AUD = 29.13 USD
USA: 29.99 USD (difference is 2.86% = eligible)
LATAM: 14.99 USD (difference is 50.02% = ineligible)
MENA: 14.99 USD (difference is 50.02% = ineligible)

Right, so it looks like I've run into the issue for the first time with this one game which sucks haha. I've never had the issue before so it looked like a new one to me. Thanks so much for all the help guys, I appreciate it!

It gets more finicky when prices in the US also do not include taxes/VAT while other countries may.
