Gift purchasing restriction, thanks steam for not telling me what did i do
Hello,

Thanks for getting in touch. I looked at your account, and I do see that you have a general gift purchasing restriction.

You can still purchase gifts and send them to any of your friends if you use a payment method directly to purchase the gift, instead of your Wallet funds. You are free to use your Wallet funds toward making purchases for your own account.

Steam Support is unable to remove or make any further adjustments to your account.

As this is all the information we can provide about this gift purchase restriction, I will be closing this ticket and please be advised that any future tickets with the same issue will be closed without response.

But if you have any other issues with Steam, you are welcome to open a new ticket.

You did try to buy a Steam Gift with Steam Wallet funds, something that Valve does not like at all.
Wallet funds are supposed to be only used on the account they are on, thats why you also cant transfer them to another account.
Using wallet funds to gift games seems to Valve like you are trying to circumvent that restriction so if you try to gift more then like 1 game a year that way it will flag your account with this restriction.
Valve has really started to crack down on this for about a year or so.

You can still use wallet funds to buy games for your own account, just not for others.
For that use a external payment method, that will work.

Honestly, with as hard as they have been cracking down on it, I would not be surprised if we see this happen at a future time.

I have 3 friends, living in my City, same steam region, make gifts only to them, did not selling on other sites gifts for real money or something else, and get punished for using steam functions. I am sure steam support can check my gifts history, but they tell me, that will just closing my tickets, lol. This is first time for my 14 years old account to getting ban for nothing. They think i will buy some gifts now with credit card :steammocking:?

I mean, now that you have been restricted, your options are:

1. Buy gifts with a non wallet payment method.

2. Don't buy gifts.

Just got hit with the same reply by support. Word by word. It's a shame, as I'm just trying to gift a game to myself.
Did you get the restriction lifted, or should I just give up?

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
