SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!

For some reason, STEAM was not opening on my computer. This sometimes happens, but today I was going to play some Stardew, and I didn't want to wait, so I just decided to re-install STEAM. This is where the problem started. For some reason, I decided to delete STEAM from the actual folder, rather than in settings. I deleted it and went to re-install it. It then told me that the folder needed to be empty. I checked and, low and behold, there were 2 .old files: crashhandler.dll.old and steam.exe.old. I tried to delete them but they both couldn't be deleted because "the file is open in Steam" This couldn't be true, because STEAM was deleted, but they will not delete, and the installer refuses to install them anywhere else just error messages.

Please could somebody help me? I would be eternally grateful if anybody had any answers. Currently, I cannot run any of my STEAM games, and if I cannot get them back, I'm out a couple hundred dollars.

Reboot pc , then exit steam if it still start up, then wipe again, then reinstall steam.

we can not fix a half delete steam, this is the only way to make sure nothing is running.

you should ask first before you did that "steam.exe.old" could have be renamed to steam.exe and relaunc it. but i doubt, we can fix games lost and whatever leftovers before you did this.


even run steam.exe as administrator has seen before fix system rights issue.

Delete everything in Steam folder except Steam.exe Steamapps and Steam used data.
Then click on Steam.exe it will reinstall.
Install to programfiles x86
Run Steam as administrator and add to firewall exceptions.
