Steam keeps flashing on the toolbar when out of focus
Strange issue that spurred up all of a sudden, when I unfocus steam or minimize it the taskbar icon keeps flashing orange as if something is happening.

Its getting very distracting, I've rebooted steam a few times, restarted my computer, and tried Small Mode, but it still does it.

I have only seen this issue when in-game and pulling up text messaging so I am probably of no help here other than this piece of information. It will flash regardless of an incoming message and flash for the outgoing idle message there within.

Hopefully someone has had this issue previously and can help further.

It's been doing this to me now for weeks as well. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying.

Check if got a message?

Otherwise check you Steam settings for notifications, and friend notifications. See what hitting you up.

Now if it client file issue, can try doing this, head to where Steam installed > delete everything except for Steamapp folder and Steam.exd file, once done run steam.exe and see if issue resolved.

Just started happening to me too, what's the issue? It doesn't say why, it just flashes whenever it's minimised and stops when I leave the window open.

Oh and to answer the above question no there isn't anything happening. No account alerts, no friend requests, no unread messages, nothing. I legit can't find a reason for it to flash and yet it constantly does even after restarting.

This. Started after the last large steam client update. No one has found a way to fix it?

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
