Steam keeps crashing my games
I just got a new pc with pretty good tech idk im not an engineer, but most of my games(fallout 4, lethal comp, super hot) don't work and just freeze with an error message saying the app isn't responding. I've tried nearly everything online, running as administrator, verifying integrity of files, updating windows and my drivers but none of it works. Anyone know how to fix this?

Also for some reason Super hot: mind control delete works but nothing else i dont know why

Well we can only tell you behesdas games require a pc that update and have full game requirements for f4 goty if you do not have 8gb gpu card then you dont have it and have standard low spec see texture pack for full pc spec. they are not same as standard game.

Antivirus issue
Rest is folder access for documne save, and just so you know game config save actual require acces to store them.

and who knows if other game is not same issue.

ps.
most here can tell you Bethesda games require full update pcdsriver and optiming for max games performance, they have done this sense they made games over 2 decads in 3D games.

and stay out of mods if yopu do not have surplus pc performcen then game has as requirements. ( game engine scrips dont tell you they fail they do, if you have performance issue. ) any fallout 4 gamer can tell you this. ( signs is things get odd ) like scripts has lack of memory to run as they should.

I know the answers to this issue as I just got finished fixing it myself.

You need more details here because we are not mind readers.

Is the OS a clean install?

Do you have any apps/programs running like OneDrive (this is especially when using a laptop with no external, or internal - other than drive C, storage solutions)?

Do you have any apps/programs running that utilize real-time system/drive backups?

And have you allowed Steam through your Firewall and run Steam as Administrator?

What is the make/model of GPU, CPU, and PSU (include wattage here)?

How much RAM do you have and have you adjusted the Virtual Memory Pool to reflect your solid RAM (not to exceed x3 GB of solid RAM but no less than x1 - or as Microsoft suggests x1.5 as lowest)?

Have you downloaded all updated MS C++ Redistributables?

Do you use any Apple products such as iTunes or have an iPhone linked to your PC (as the Apple Bonjour Service can cause major issues when on automatic instead of manual, including but not limited to; BSoD, system freezing, and game stuttering)?

And have you run SFC (System File Checker) Scan Tool?

Some of these things (and more) could be your issue as all of these were my issue - solved.

Plus a bonus:

Have you updated your Chipset Driver?

Have you looked into BIOS updates as it is a new PC build?

And I should ask if it is a branded pre-built PC or custom built?

And if you see this app/program, AIDA64, remove that hot garbage as it could be a very plausible culprit as well because it has issues with updates/installations and is known to crash Windows without even running their "stress tests"...

One troubleshooting method to check if your Windows profile is corrupt (if you use MS Windows Account instead of Local Account), see if you can change your PC pin because if you cannot, you have a profile issue/contamination which is seen on occasion where Windows cuts your profile name to 5 digits or so which in turn causes registry corruptions.

Using AMD Adrenaline can cause issues on some systems.

Even using your GPU software for LED control can cause issues, if applicable.

If you have a dual power cable-type GPU, make sure NOT TO USE pigtails/daisy chain cables - you must use two separate power cables.

If you are using PSU custom power cables, please use ONLY the cables that came with the PSU as issues and damage can occur with third-party extensions.

If you are using GPU extension cables, please refrain also from using (see above for reason).

If you are using an AMD Radeon series GPU, please check its boost clock timings because there was an issue with some models running boost clocks below core clocks causing crashes and such - remedy is to raise the boost clock to rated specs.

Make sure to have your desktop, or laptop, in Maximum Power Mode/Ultimate Power Mode as balanced mode and energy-saving modes can down-throttle the CPU as well as GPU.

Some BIOS, such as MSI, have an option called: Game Boost/Turbo Boost, which can help or hinder game play.

There is also an option on most newer PC's in the BIOS called: C6 (C-state 6) - which is a heavy deep-sleep CPU throttler and should be turned off/disabled for maximum game performance.

I'd rather not give away my system info, idk if people can hack me or something from it I'd rather stay cautious, but I do have onedrive and that might be the issue, I don't know how to disable it so I'll try and figure that out. Its not an issue with my computers hardware because the parts I bought were way too expensive, I've updated everything, windows, my drivers, whatever else, also i tried cleaning any corrupt files from my computer, disabled firewall, disabled antivirus, ran a SFC and none of it worked. Also when I run steam as administrator it tells me to disable it otherwise it wont function properly.

Ok I've gone and tried all the stuff you've told me to do and none of it worked. I'll just try getting it repaired even though its new.

u could also look in event viewer (run eventvwr.msc from search/run box) at the windows logs - application and system ... see what events/errors have been happening ...

try running a scan on drive(s) to see if any errors/corruptions and maybe scan your local c drive/windows installation drive as well:

- right click a partition/drive in windows file explorer - tools - check button - scan drive (the results of the scan/chkdsk will also show in the application log in event viewer)

- right click the taskbar in windows desktop and run Task Manager (or Ctrl-Alt-Del and select Task Manager) then go to Detail tab and click the CPU column to sort it highest to low ... check what is using the most cpu % - you can see what other apps/programs are using cpu as well

- you can also right click the taskbar and choose task manager then go to startup tab in windows 10 or 11 and make sure not too many things are being loaded that you don't need - just right click and disable things (or right click to enable them again) if you don't think they need to be loaded - make sure no spyware/malware is being loaded at startup

- use the procmon diag tool from microsoft and run it to show all activity going on as the game loads? ... file system, registry, network, process etc with all events on - or just click only file system if want to just view file system activity
(https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon)

some other basic steps to do as a precaution would be:

run an antimalware scanner like the free version Malwarebytes Anti-Malware available from their website: https://www.malwarebytes.com/
(very popular - have used it for over 15 years now)

also can try superantispyware free version another useful spyware scanner: https://www.superantispyware.com/free-edition.html
(very popular - have used it for over 10 years now)

extra steps to try in general:

u can run a command prompt by typing cmd.exe into windows search/run box in the start menu ... but right click and run it as administrator) and then run the following one after another (hit enter after each one, very important so each is completed before doing the next command):

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

DISM.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

sfc /scannow

Restart your computer once it's done.

(nb. these commands are verifications done by windows against microsoft servers to see if you have any system file/component corruptions - can take a little while for it to complete)

to install/reinstall the steam client again:

- steam client setup file is available by clicking INSTALL STEAM button on the steam about webpage: https://store.steampowered.com/about/

(direct official link to steam client - https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/client/installer/SteamSetup.exe)

- run the SteamSetup.exe file (right click the file and run as administrator if possible) which will install the steam client over the existing steam client installation

- nb. you will have to enter your steam login credentials again after the install and it will send a security code to your email which you will then have to retrieve and fill in the code to allow steam to verify the login details and then it will continue to load the steam app ...

- WARNING: also be aware if you uninstall the steam client it will delete steam games (from their install location) you have installed via steam, removes downloadable content and also savegames and other steam settings

- you can also check for steam updates by clicking on Steam menu at the top left in Steam and selecting "Check for Steam Client Updates..."

try the following steam service repair mentioned on the steam support website:

Repair the Steam Service:

The error may also indicate a Steam service failure. Please try repairing the Steam service:

Exit Steam.
Click Start > Run (Windows Key + R).
Type the following command: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe" /repair
Launch Steam and test the issue again.

or you can run a command prompt by typing cmd.exe into windows search/run box in the start menu ... but right click and run it as administrator) and then run the following command from the command prompt:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe" /repair

Note:
This command requires administrator privileges and may take a few minutes. If you have installed Steam to another path, please replace C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
with the correct path.
