$20+ auto purchase made on Steam Market ! Need Help !
I'm 46 years old and I have been using steam for 17 years. I had $21 on my Steam Vallet. I have just logged in and saw that my valled it almost empty now. I have checked and saw that a Steam Market purchase done around 30 mins before I logged in to Steam. Before you ask, I have never shared my password with anyone. I'm a very cautious person. I wrote the issue to Steam Support immediately. And I have also changed my Steam Password just in case.

However, I have used Steam Inventory Helper ad-on for Google Chrome to sell unused items on my account. I never had such issue before.

Even if STEAM recovers my money, I will never feel safe. What if they purchase something or gift something to someone from my account again.

Have any of you had same issue? How it happens? How can I protect myself?

edit:
The item which was purchased for $20 is normally a $0.1 item. And I have never played the game that item belongs to.

uptdate:
Steam customer serivde told me that all sales and final and they won't do anything else.

Secure your account

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

You more than likely leaked your information through whatever 'STeam Inventory Helper ad-on for Google Chrome' is..

do a search and you will see how often people post about it, some days you will find multi posts in different forums.

You can read it most of the days.
At some point 3 details leaked. Often people dont notice they are leaking, otherwise they would not.

Even I need to use my mobile apps' Steam Guard to login my account. How can people easily reach my wallet and purchase things?

How do I prevent this to happen again?

Never log into links or buttons.
Only on the one original homepage (you got to on your own) or in the client login.

For generally all accounts.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
