Hi is there a way to mitigate the resource steam webhelper is consuming?
It opens 8 tabs... I really want to clear my memory to not frame drop on games. I tried closing it via task manager but it just comes back up. I cant go offline mode since I play online. Is it really necessary to run this thing? If it is not, can someone direct me on how to disable it temporarily while I game? I only got 16gb or ram and when I am not running anything but steam im already at 35% Memory. When I open my game it just spikes so much...

First do not try to closing webhelper steam thread using task manager,it's useless and not necessary.
And the memory it uses depends mainly on the options you have activated but also on the parameters for launching the client but true the client now use around 800mo+

About steam parameters
For less memory usage there is many stuff you can disable on the steam setup and mainly on interface settings, library setup and last , in game setup

About steam command line switch
Here also you can have some source of improvement just check the forum

Do you mean that steam is using more than 5go on your system ?
If it's the case then you have a corrupted file somewhere on the steam folder or cache and then also use the search forum function for that.

Oh I see. Then I will search for those parameters I can turn down. Thanks for the tip.
If you are hitting near 100% in Memory, just raise the page pool - just make sure you have enough disk space; albeit, not as fast as DRAM it will help a bit.

Delete this stupid file and restart Steam Client:

Steam\userdata\(Steam ID)\config\librarycache → achievement_progress.json

If you have more than one account you will find more but you only need to delete the one for the main account.

This solution is used when Steam Client and Webhelpers are taking up 1.1GB+ of Memory usage. Deleting this file brings it back down to a proper 600MB - 800MB of usage.
