how can I know if a specific game have a sequel or prequel

What I do is:
1. Check if there is "Check the X franchise
2. If there is a bundle with games from the frabchise
3. Check developer/publisher page

I don't think there are any direct links to sequel/prequel, unless set up by devs themselves.

Actually developers should manually gather the games of one series into franchise (in Settings). After that the special horizontal Franchise button on Steam-pages of each game of the series appears.

Go to the game's discussion hub ans look at their news and ask the devs there.
