Turn off game updates by default

Is there a global setting that turns off automatic updates or do I need to manually turn off for each game?

No such setting. My preferred strategy is to restrict the time for automatic updates in the settings to 3-4 in the night. My PC is almost never running at this time, so effectively it's the same result.

Bad idea anyway since updates will garrantee games always work.
