Connecting Nintendo Pro Controller to Steam to play Fortnite

I have been trying so many different ways to connect my controller to my laptop to play fortnite and cannot get it to work. All the websites and videos is showing me the beta version and I don't know how to get the same settings they do.

I go to steam, and then settings
In settings I go to controller
I enable Steam Input for switch controllers

What else should be on and off? I also have when into the desktop layout and tried to make it so its for a gamepad instead of keyboard and mouse.

Nothing is working! I had it working a while ago on a different laptop, the graphic card updated and then it wouldn't work anymore. I have a completely new laptop but I still can't get it to work!

Any help would be appreciated!

Yes we already have epic games and fortnite added

When you start EG via Steam, does Steam show it as running? Are you able to open the Steam overlay (it doesn't get drawn over the EG window but just the title bar)?
