Not getting notifications until I close the game

All of a sudden I don't get pop-ups for notifications for mesages, when friends enter game etc, in bottom right corner, only hear the sound. And when I close the game then all of the previous notifications appear at once. Any idea how to fix this?

Have you tried checking your notification settings, click Steam (top left corner), then settings. You will see notifications on the left hand side in the new window that opens, have a look there and see if anything has changed.

Yes, it was the first thing I looked, everything is as it should be.

Edit:
I feel like it could be because off alt tabbing when the steam overlay was open and this then screws the system because it doesnt know where and/or when it should show those notifications?

For me it fixed itself, I don't recall doing anything it just started working again all of a sudden, could've been after a certain update or something.

Exact same thing, alt tabbing or closing a game is the only way I get the actual pop up to appear.

+1 I think also started around end of June for me, didn't notice for sure until today but only way to see notifications is to tab out of the game then it comes flooding.

Didn't change any settings at all but just verified all of them and all notifications settings are exactly as they were.

Tried disablign / enabling didn't fix the issue.


So add me to the list.

Note some games suppress notifications so they dont interfere with the game
