How to play remote without the game opening on my primary computer
I have Steam installed on both my streaming PC and my gaming PC. My gaming PC does not have as much storage space as my gaming PC so I keep most of my games installed on the streaming PC. I love the remote play feature!

My issue is that whenever I press STREAM on my gaming PC to play a Steam game remotely it also opens the game on my streaming PC at the same time. Defeating the purpose of me not using up resources on the streaming PC to stream and having a two PC setup. Is there any way to stop the game from opening on the primary computer when I open it remotely?

Steam Remote Play is not a service like GeForce Now or Amazon Luna where the provider hosts the servers for you. Because providing such strong servers with high quality connections is exceedingly expensive, such services usually are offered as a subscription. What you are asking doesn't make sense for Valve economically.

Steam needs to run the game to grab audio and video output and to process remote control inputs. Doing this in the background is not feasible performance wise.

I can tell you're confused what you're expecting here, and no this doesn't defeat the purpose because it's not a cloud gaming service like PSNow, Nvidia GeforceNow, Amazon Luna, or etc... Steam remote play is similar like teamviewer, moonlight, pacsec, or etc where it host the content on streaming device aka running the game, and streams it to another device aka streaming to your other PC to send video feedback to, and waits on your input feedback to send to your streaming device to accept those inputs, that how Steam remote play works, and always has.

When I say is defeats the purpose for my use what I mean is that I am only trying to run the game on one computer and stream it from another using my NDI or my capture card. So if it is already opening on my streaming computer anyway (where it is installed) then I will just stream/record it from there rather than having the game run on two different computers. My older computer has an older graphics card so it sometimes has issues running the game, streaming, and using my webcam. Which is why I have a two PC setup in the first place so each can be dedicated to their own tasks without loss of quality. I was unaware that Steam does not have a cloud service. Now I know. Thanks for your input.
