Input Lag when Docking the Deck

Recently bought a dock by JSAUX because I had used my friend's and had no issues.

However, upon using mine I'm experiencing input lag in all games, including when just going through the steam library/menus.

Playing on a Vizio M-Series Quantum 65" TV, and using the Xbox Series X controller.

For starters, I don't think the input lag could be from the controller since I used my friends dock with this controller and had no issues. However, his TV was an a lot older model and smaller.

I'm thinking the lag could be bc my TV is bigger or just not a good TV for gaming in general despite making sure game mode was on.

I've done everything in the steam decks setting along with in-game setting, tinkering with v-sync, framerate, etc. with no fix.

I don't know what the issue could be, I'm leaning towards its my TV, or maybe the JSAUX dock, or just a combination of things. I just wanna be able to play docked without these issues. I don't mind playing handheld, but I don't wanna overly wear and tear the steam deck itself.

Any advice???

When using a TV, make sure the HDMI port is in gaming or PC mode to disable the signal post-processing, which adds a lot of input lag.

Yes, I did this and had input lag still. As an update, I decided to try docking on a computer monitor and had zero issue with input lag, so I'm starting to realize that my TV is entirely the cause of my input lag.

No. The problem is not your TV. The problem is the dock and its poor build quality. Unfortunately, YouTube videos will sing the praises to this piece of hardware. But like so many YouTube videos, reviewers don't really do a good job actually reviewing the darn things they say they are reviewing. You can count with the fingers in your right hand the amount of technology review channels on YouTube that actually do the work.

The JSAUX dock has plenty of problems with its ports. And you'll find people complaining about it bit everywhere, such as on Reddit, Steam and Amazon. I returned mine (the USB 3.2 version) because I was getting great amounts of input lag when using my wireless mouse or keyboard when connecting their dongles to the two 3.2 USB ports closest to the HDMI port. The last one further was the only one that worked.

I tested these USB ports and they are indeed 3.2 as advertised. So the issue is without a doubt poor build quality that doesn't shield these ports from signal interference. In short, this docking station is a paperweight. If you are still on time, return it. Sorry to bring the bad news.

The reason why it works with your monitor and not your TV is down to the different signal types coming from them and how interference will affect some more than others.


EDIT: Oh, and I almost forgot. Don't trust the 100W power delivery port either. Don't use this dock to charge anything that requires 100W. The power regulator on this dock PCB doesn't work correctly and there has been reports of people frying their devices. It's fine for Steam Deck because it's a 40W device. But I wouldn't probably use this for anything else. I have an Anker 737 power bank that I tried to charge through this dock just to see what would happen. And while it did charge it eventually to full (it accepts any charge lower or equal to 140W), I did notice lots of fluctuation in power delivery (the Anker has a screen that lets you know how much power is being delivered) and it never came anywhere close to 100W. Also, a lot of heat coming out of the docking station.
