Steam updates now means unable to gift??
I've been on recently looking to get a friend a game for an upcoming celebration but the option to purchase as a gift seems to have disappeared...
I have the option to buy for myself, or to buy myself privately, but the option to buy as a gift has been removed.

Is anyone else having the same issue or knows a workaround here? As this will just mean I go elsewhere for gift purchases in future otherwise. Why make it so difficult?

what region are you in, what region is your friend in, what is the item you are trying to buy? not everything can be purchased as a gift, there are some bundles that are tailored to YOUR account and cannot be gifted.

What game are you talking about? What exactly are you trying to gift?

No, it is fine. I gifted a game to a friend yesterday. Perhaps the game you're trying to gift is region-locked, tied to your account only or maybe they're in a higher price region than you?

Those would tell you after selecting the person you wish to gift to, not make the option to gift not appear.

Just to save the same comments coming up again - I'm not posting the specific game in case the person sees the post.
It's not region locked, tied to account etc... as they are same region as me (they live locally) and it's not a bundle etc...
It's also not a game I already own.

It used to give the option to purchase as a gift, and now it asks me to select for my account or my account - private. No other options have appeared - and I've taken it right through to checkout to ensure it's not just moved where you select.
I've also tried adding to card directly from their wishlist, again with no luck.

I've also tried a couple of different games, to ensure it's not an issue with the specific game in question, which is why I'm asking about the option having disappeared, NOT about not being able to do it with a particular title.

This has only happened since the option have things not appear in your library came in - which is why I'm wondering if it is tied to that update....
If you had sent the gift already they would know the name of the game.
Or you can delete the post with the name when someone answered.
Would make it quick without guessing

Hi Muppet. You've entirely misunderstood the post.
I haven't bought the game as I don't have the option when purchasing to send it as a gift. If I could, I wouldn't be posting...
The specific game is irrelevant as I'm not able to purchase any games as a gift option, which is what I'm asking about. Appreciate you trying to help.

If I could post a screenshot it would be much easier!

I've removed steam beta, and put it back which allowed me to sort it. Clearly a glitch somewhere.
So can close the discussion.
