How can I unlink my Apex account from an old EA account that i have forgotten the logins

I just want to do the gift and I need to turn on login verification but i dont have the logins for the EA account

You will need to contact EA support as it's something you need to do on their end.

Keep in mind that Apex will stop working if you unlink the EA account until you restore the link to that specific particular EA account.

So, restore access to your EA account.
