uk download servers

hello everyone, how come when i download games from UK - Manchester i get 900mbps download speed where as when i download from the London server i get around 100mbps?

I have a very stable gigabit fibre internet connection and its been like this ever since i got it. i would expect the closer server to me (as i live in london) to have better download speeds but it doesnt.

Well, it's pretty simple - congestion. There's only so much bandwidth that ISP's tech can supply to the download servers. (There are contractual reasons too but let's not go there.) As you're in the capital, they're competing for bandwidth with every other user there and especially every major business in the country - that includes all the financial businesses in the square mile that are chewing up data 24/7.

By selecting the Manchester server you're escaping all of that and, as a result, getting far better download speeds.

ty ig, im just gonna stick to manchester for now. i tried london servers again and now im getting 30 mbps...
