Can't Connect to multiplayer through Steam
Hi There,

As the title suggests, I am unable to connect to multiplayer on any of the games in my Steam library. This issue started with Helldivers 2 almost immediately after purchase, however it now affects all multiplayer games in my library, including: Valheim, Overcooked 2, and Lethal Company (These are just the games I've tried). I have tried: Restarting PC (multiple times), Flushing DNS, Disabling Firewall (multiple times), Updating Drivers, Uninstalling and Reinstalling Steam, and resetting router (multiple times). I'm really lost, and need help. Does anyone know what I can do to possibly fix this? Thanks

I've had the same problem a while back with Fifa. Just like you i also tried everything.

The fix for that was strangely enough removing Discord and using the browser version when playing that game. So if you happen to use Discord when playing it's worth a try i guess.
Have you change ISP. ?

ps.
Things just dont block itself if worked before, that require a things get update with security or
or Router, and sense you are online then network do work.

even reset router, is doubt full then worked before, most will just set the same configuration up as before, thats was the logic side of it.

dont forget you mentio all games, and they dont use same game server this means something most have cahnge even reinstall OS

do check windows fire wall thta outport is open, seen 1 steam usre menstion firewall rule was change and he did never caught what cause this after a windows reset maybe , i forgot that here atm.

and we are user only.

What prevent you from use a spare pc or friends laptop to ruleout own router or own ISP / steam a/ game server if they work , then you know its your pc that has a isse now.

and you seem cleaver enbough then you did all that up there.

do check steam ports is open. ( some isp do not have this they have a vip portal own customer need to edit ) but onby you know if you change isp or reset something.

ps.
do not do the double router mistake, imo privat user should stay out of it, you also open door for double mistake and multi fail possibilities, but if its recommend by other technician then go ahaed, there is no way to to know every network area in everey person home here.

ppl forget double router , open door for many other issue, and skill is need to know and faulty find on such.

im not sure steam want advance routing here, sense that is not a steam problem. what is going on at local network. ( same as debating eletric cord in wall and how much power each room has, pretty sure steam will close such. post )

ps.
i have seen some local ISP treat building complex as local network and you need public ip adr, to host game server, but this post dont look like that. ( i mentions it, so you understand router traffic in is not allowed unless pub ip adr is added and that cost more is there. and thats why host a game is not possible.

I don't think its a router issue, as nothing has changed on it for over a year. I will look into my ports and friend of mine has also suggested to try looking into NAT types so I'm going to try that as well. I haven't changed ISP recently and I just haven't had the chance to check whether its my pc or something else that's the issue.
Try the following to see if it solves the problem. DO ALL THE STEPS IN ORDER:
1) Uninstall Helldivers 2
2) Reboot into safe mode
3) Remove C:\Windows\SysWOW64\gamemon.des while in safe mode if it is there
4) Remove C:\Windows\system32\gamemon.des while in safe mode if it is there
5) Remove the nProtect GameGuard service using these instructions while in safe mode: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/windows-services/how-to-install-and-uninstall-services#uninstall-using-powershell
6) Reboot into normal mode.
7) YOU ARE NOT DONE YET. Perform the following as administrator: netsh winsock reset
Then reboot into normal mode again.
8) YOU ARE NOT DONE YET. Perform the following as administrator: netsh int ip reset
Then reboot into normal mode again.
9) YOU ARE NOT DONE YET. Check your network adapters and reconfigure them manually to the settings you had before. It's possible nProtect GameGuard messed with your settings. Reboot if necessary.
10) Now try again.

If that's too much of a hassle, try reinstalling Windows instead.

nProtect GameGuard (which is what Helldivers 2 is using) is a VERY aggressive anti-cheat and prone to tamper with specific hardware configurations.

For win 10:

For the service names of nProtect Game Guard in Step 5, check the following names:
npptnt2
npggsvc

Are these names for powershell? If so, powershell won’t let me run the command the article suggests

You need to run it as administrator. If that fails, open the command line like i suggested you for steps 7 and 8 and use the commands
sc delete npptnt2
and
sc delete npggsvc

instead. It's the equivalent, but you will still have to do steps 6, 7 and 8 afterwards.

Please use the forums instead of sending a friend request. There might be others that would still be willing to help and our transcript might help others in the future as well.
Then it might be ISP specific, hard to tell.
