Missing file privilages
So I am the admin of the pc I am on, and every time I try and save to the D: drive, it fails, but for whatever reason, the C: drive allows me to download (this would be a temp fix, but its actually my boot drive and has very little space on it). I have tried to update the security profiles already in Windows and set Steam to always in admin mode (which has worked for downloading things before but now has stopped working). I am running out ideas. I have tested to see if i can write data to that drive as well by just saving a few words docs and its fine and i am also able to read data, open word docs and play games. I am just not sure what i should do next. Can someone give me a direction.

Do you need to re-add a steam library again, after its entry is lost, see steam storage settings.

It look like a lost or removed content library

OK so ive fixed it. Basically what you need to do is steam app properties-security-under group or users there is a button that says edit-click add-its highlighted in blue click select principal-advanced-find now- everyone (double click)- Click OK- make sure all the tick boxes are clicked (or just give full control)-Click OK- reboot steam. This is the way i did it and it worked!

Most do not have system issue like that , they can create whatever steam lib on every drev, and dont have to do a system rights issue. what cause this is dont know, i dont think its windows issue more a secutiry issue

afaik , windows have not change admin / user rights to disk operation.
why i point it out so other can confirm it ( also raise the spot so other user that get this issue from the system, and maybe someone spot what is the cause with a app or system change.

make sure you say what "OS" windows 10/11 user and what security you have, so other later can get info if this even matter.

( you dont do it for my sake its other steam users you help with what could cause this )

ohh dont be linux user with exfat . afaik steam only accpet NTFS under windows with steam.
