Do you use Steam Client 'Notes' ... to take ... Notes?
A feature I was moaning about a lot in the past - to myself, not in public - is the lack of having the ability to write notes next to each of my gazillion games in my Steam library.

Some older games need a bit of extra attention, after the Steam installer is finished. They won't start on certain hardware, or won't start at all period, without tweaking and or downloading unofficial patches, DLLs or need other sort of tweaking or just are better with 3rd party website MODs (ModDB, Nexus, etc).

What I find is, I often search the game's Steam Community Forum threads for a certain topic:

"Crash on Start",
"Black Screen on Start",
"Bad Framerate",
"Essential MODs for <game xyz>",
"No Fullscreen mode",
etc, etc .

.. only to find more often then not MY OWN 'solutions', I wrote years ago for the game on the forums.

There is no need for this, since a Steam Client update from circa June 2023?

Steam introduced 'Notes' and added it to the Steam client.

To my shame - even though, I open the Steam client daily - I never noticed it, until a few days ago! You won't see it in 'View - Small Mode' or 'Big Picture Mode'.

It has the typical Steam text formatting design and even does auto-saving, while editing. Now, everyone can add the solutions on how to run certain old GFWL games, or "needs ddraw.dll", or "DOSBOX config file - switch to opengl", etc, etc, right into the Steam Game Library inside the Steam Client, without having to search the web for the 100th time. Or add their relevant 'solution' website URLs in the notes (embedded links).

Life got easier. Less of wasting precious life-time searching for the same things again and again?

Did YOU guys notice?

Do you use it?

I use those notes for builds & guides, stuff I need in-game. Everything PCGamingWiki is best for, I use that.

Personally I don't use the Notes feature very much. I do keep the game recording going so that I can retrace my steps through a game if I need to though.

This thread did make me question just what *would* make me consider using the notes feature on Steam, and I was honestly considering the comfort of being able to speak and have that automatically written down through the microphone via push to talk or something similar.

This probably won't become a feature on Steam since it requires an intelligence to operate it, but i am sure there are plenty of alternatives out there.

I've been using this notes section to place steps that I've had to take to get the game running properly.

Nope.

I basically made a group for this ages ago. Groups come with a forum, so I can simply make a thread for every game that I want to take "notes" on. Usually with just one post that I keep editing.
