Can't install steam on WIndows anymore?

I am on a laptop and it won't install steam.
When I click install steam it just says it is not in the microsoft store and tells me to change my recommended settings. But, there is no setting that can fix it seems.

Certain versions of Windows, Windows S don't allow you to install software not downloaded from the MS Store.

Thanks for the link. I don't see the feature to switch out. It just says it is possible to do.

It's not a feature I've used myself, I'm just aware of it. Now that you know what to look for maybe a little more research will cover the missing details.

I wanted to ask the same question. If yes dectivating might not be possible or get you in all kinds of trouble.

If you are on a Windows "S" system find out why this is the case. Laptops outside school or work environments with this form of Windows OS are rare. If it is done outside school/work then often because the laptop has low specs and is faster with it and in that case tampering with your OS might do no good either and gaming on it be a rather not so good experience anyway.

If yes, you have to ask the admin if you can disable it. Otherwise, you can't do anything.

It is actually a personal laptop, I just couldn't find the button to deactivate it on the link provided. Though it looked like it should have been there.
