Constant clicking but only on some games?

So there are a few games (and this list does seem to change from time to time) that act as if I am constantly clicking or pressing enter at GREAT SPEED and ALL THE TIME. Which... makes them unplayable.

The current game is Dredge. Past games include: Chillquarium demo (fine in the morning, unplayable in the evening, have not tried since) and Content Warning (automatically opened the settings menu and couldn't move from there; it resolved itself and now is playable again)

Does anyone have any insights into this?


Note: I do not have this issue on all games. I have changed mouse. I have cleaned mouse. Mouse is fine in any other application. I have restarted several times. I have changed USB ports twice.

Also seen this 1 time, its like game lost controll and was in fastest speed, look like game engine or steam has a issue, but with what. ( even a system, issue ) i di not had clicking issue more could not turn speed down again to 1 ingame, ) thats mean games seem to have new issue and culprint is not yet figure out, if its actual same issue we have .

also mean what game engine and alot of other things that can do this.

my game was Transocean 1, ( a Unity game engine ) if this is the issue.

Note you should reboot your system to ensure the update took correctly

Seem to have help me, problem is i dont controll when it do it.

make sure GPU driver is also update with freshly clean install drivers, ( dont forget VC++ is performance and runtime driver as we call them in the old days ) so GPU driver update driver can matter here.

Just a few guesses from my side:

Since it isn't a mouse click but a keyboard click (ENTER), can you change keyboards, not use a keyboard but a controller just to see if it still happens?

Do you have a special keyboard driver / software like I have for mapping keys or color changes etc.? Can you make sure this isn't the problem by either deactivating it or uninstalling it?

Tried putting the keyboard into a different USB slot? Unplugging all other USB devices just to make sure it's not an USB problem?

Just like Satura point out, same goes with BIOS and chipset driver is update, so many things can effect game performance, if you have notice most helper do not mentions this anymore.

Have you other controll attached, i forgot what game it was, but it did they auto switch to game pad controller, and i bet you see logic in this and why my keyboard /mouse was not in use. and it was other game i use my flightstick with , so do i feel like stupid then i figure this out, dont forget this is now 10 years ago, but leason hard learned, and what games can do then it detect it.

ppl need to learn plug and play unit use im attached then use that and me as master controller, if we can explaned it like that, then ingame option is not there.

also maybe one of them games that seem as consol coverting to pc game issue.
