Steam not allowing me to go online (kind of)

ok this might be a lengthy read because I'm honestly not sure why this has happened but ill go over some events that might have contributed to this and where I'm at now. I had a sibling using my steam deck playing a game when, at the same time, I launched Elden Ring to play on my PC then it didn't launch (probably bec we were using the same steam playing 2 different games) this then failed to launch and tried again but it put me in offline mode instead which I was kinda confused about but when i try to go back into online mode nothing happens, no error message, no prompt just nothing. i tried this a couple of times and logged out and in again online to be launched into offline mode since it wouldnt go online but this too failed to launch into the client and was on a never ending loading screen for it. as for my steam deck everything was perfect there no problems. I eventually had to uninstall steam and reinstall it this fixed the problem and i could go online but everytime i restart my steam, clear download cache or just starting my pc up it does it all over again leading me to uninstall it and reinstall it everytime. Is there something im missing here I just don't understand what is causing this, maybe a clash with files or something but im really not sure, any and all help will be very much appreciated thank you!

Other new post about it say you need to stay in own home lib and not store page.

we cant help you with deck issue, we other are pc users here, and many of us will never get a deck unit

Start by going into offline mode on the Deck before you try to use the same account to play the same game online on PC.

I'm not having problems with my deck here i was just explaining some context to what might be wrong with it, I'm mainly a PC user too, steam store page works fine but other features like online in steam client games and other features just dont work, my steam status is offline and when clicking to go online its unresponsive, no action happens

i don't think the steam deck is the problem here just what caused it i think the issue now is something different, I've since logged out of my steam deck and even went offline with it and the problem is still there (I was unaware also that my sibling was using the deck obviously i wouldn't do this normally)

You can't play games on multiple devices using the same account without one of them being in offline mode first.

Use Steam Families for sharing to another account.

ahh i think i misunderstand the "Steam not allowing me to go online (kind of)"
we have seen some cant get online after hybersleep, also why the crash issue can happend , but never mind can you go online after a cold reboot,

and other steam user do say you can play offline and other game online, but steam have also chenge the FS ( Family share ) you need to be on same household, i have also seen some router do a wifi this Network ID and local lan this network ID, then technicaly you are not same network and house hold, i know this because my router can do this, but i do not have deck so i cant confirm this.

you need other steam suer with such split wifi and cable could actual be seen as not the same. unless we have a steam user tht can tell it dont matter.


also notice "restart my steam" then it stop doing this, So main pc effect deck connection.

is both on wifi and you actual dont have the bandwide as you think you do. ?
battler over bandwide on wifii can lead to poor performance..

any pc owner know this 2 mass DL with play over wifi is not good. if its resource aient there.
