Exclusive full screen killing fps ...

Since yesterday, whenever Dota 2 loads the fps drop to 10

Unless I change to borderless windows and the size of the game screen is smaller than the background

If I change borderless window to match screen background or change resolution to get background in line with Dota 2, fps die

Anyone ever experienced this?

Any suggestions?

Direct 3d or Vulcan API - same results

Usual config which used to work until yesterday - 1920 x 1080 120hz - 80-90 fps avg

Now nothing works (fps 10) unless the game is Windowed and not full screen irrespective of resolution

Hmmm are you in steam BETA or did you had a Driver or windows update, also why we ask sense it woirk 2 days ago.

recheck if monitor cord is not in the IGPU board by mistake, also why thing is in 10fps if igpu have to do the job.

we have seen it before but we always doubt it can be that, and yet we do see it from time to time with diffrent steam users.

Not using the steam beta client

Regarding the monitor cord, I disconnected it and tried to play on my laptop screen, still the same issue, so I don't think its that

Something that might be correlated is that I had disabled GPU acceleration for steam web view, but not sure why that would change anything for a game, and that too only for fullscreen

Laptop has a primary setting in the Nvidia contoll menu, if AMD game card then its that app you need to deal with.


Also try the Nvidia custom build install and make a clean install then option is there, if you have Nvidia card.

Do check Laptop own support page just in case this matter
today laptop has a app that pretty much auto update all, but still require it actual work as intended.

And assum its not the power cord in battry mode or wallplug is off by mistake, make sure psu laptop charger is working and try Full perfomanmce.

Its one of them things Laptop do then battery dont get its juice auto max pwr save. and why we see laptop is 4hours to install something. ( dot forget we can only ask here only you know what happend here. )

It do happend even for the best wallplug power not switch ON , ( i was only test it actual do work ) whisle whisle here, we dont make mistake, we test for them, do note its joke for own mistake, and we are not allowed to be funny here at steam, and yet much do get it. happend to all. sooner or later.

Even laptop PSU have been seen to brakedown again only you know if laptop actual get charge up.

Yes it does happen, but I double checked haha

I am trying to reinstall drivers, hopefully that helps, will keep posting

Yeah but you know how it is, most dont aak such because we all assum it do work.

Dont forget system restore point go back to 2 days ago, laptop user know this. but its more a what cause this, and just because you go back dont mean it will not update and do same mistake.

assum you know last working restore point, and actual have it enable.

dont forget its options and its your choise then you had enough of this. if it actual work.

Finally fixed it 🍻🍻

The issue was that Nvidia GeForce app was bugged and was falsely reporting that all drivers were up to date

🤦‍♂️

I cross checked with the Nvidia website and realized my drivers were 10 versions behind ... ffs Nvidia!!!

So I removed and reinstalled the GeForce app, updated the driver's and times are happy happy again

This is seen before windows core update and then we have to reinstall same Nvidia driver to fix current drivers with windows again. ( also why i and other say use custom install and make a clean install. )

and be happy you did understand the recheck everything, as you did, pretty hard for us here to know why nvidia driver install got a fail like that, dont think i have seen that before not with Nvidia.
they are very often poke me with new drivers.
