Steamcommunity doesn't work on wifi or 4g, only a VPN.
So all of a sudden I was playing l4d2 and when I went to download a new map to play with friends I was given error 105 on the steam program for windows 11. I tried it on the browser and got a dns_probe_finished_nxdomain error. I then tried it on my phone with wifi same error, then 4g signal, same error. Then I tried with a VPN I have and it only seem to connect to steamcommunity when I have that on with both my pc and phone. Did I get banned or something? I use a shared wifi network at my apartment.

i have the same issue. it was working sometime this morning but i suddenly just couldn't connect to steamcommunity on pc or mobile. it was only when i connected to cellular data that i managed to anything steamcommunity related.
Possibly a DNS error.

The client won't work with a VPN for me, but does work from my default ISP connection (as it uses the default ISP DNS). My browser which doesn't use my default ISP DNS errors with a security risk/lookup issue, but I can switch to using my default ISP DNS and it works.
yea, the dns for steamcommunity.com is failing to give a result on ipv6, so any device that try ipv6 first will fail. (unlike if the dns respond that theres no ipv6 which then go on fallback for ipv4)

if you disable ipv6 on the device, it will work. assuming the device has ipv4 connection

The status of the steamcommunity.com domain is set to clientHold, which is why all records are removed (ipv6 and ipv4) until the status changes. You can add the IP address of the steamcommunity.com server to the hosts file on your PC to make everything work.
