Steam won't launch no matter what
Any time I try to launch Steam, it gives me the "verifying installation" window for about a second, then closes. I've tried every potential fix I've found, including uninstalling/reinstalling steam and nothing has worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Follow this guide.

https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/0/6516193260168294059/?ctp=2

Use the following in the shortcut command (instead of the one in the guide) to revert to the most recent version prior to todays:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -forcesteamupdate -forcepackagedownload -overridepackageurl http://web.archive.org/web/20240113112425if_/media.steampowered.com/client -exitsteam

Don't forget to remove the commands after the ...exe" after it reverts and to create the steam.cfg file in the steam directory (per the guide) to block it from updating, at least until they fix the issue

The issue isn't a conflict between synapse and steam, it is a hardware/device driver issue. Steam launches without my razer tartarus, but when plugged in steam crashes/closes as the device is recognised.

Same here, I have a huntsman analog v2, seems to maybe be the huntsman keyboard line, as a friend of mine also has a razer keyboard, but he has not faced this issue

the issue is indeed

1) razer synapse in Conflict with Steam Platform and Steam Games

people in CS:GO aka CS 2 complain for years about VAC Error

it turns out to be caused by Razer Synapse.

do not spread misleading information

-------------------------------------------------------

people who install Razer Synapse are the ones having the problem.

and it turns out to be true

---------------------------------------------------

people in this thread here

https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/4298193819408154118/

after they uninstall Razer Synapse, the Problem completely went away.

to "bestLoki", your Friend never install Razer Synapse and can still use the keyboard.

it means that you don't require Razer Synapse to run "Razer products" at all.

all the keyboards your mention, it is being reviewed on the year 2020.

i read those reviews.

those reviews pointed out that to use Razer keyboard products fully and effectively, you need to install Razer Synapse.

do not forget that there are plenty of threads lying around on Steam Forums about Razer Synapse and VAC Error in CS:GO for years.

i read all of them and told the owner of the threads to see whether the VAC Error problem persists after uninstalling Razer Synapse

their reply

1) yes, after uninstalling Razer Synapse, no more VAC Error problem

do not forget that the developer of CS:GO aka CS 2 is Valve Corporation.

and that the developer for Steam Platform is also Valve Corporation too.

Yep without synapse I couldn't use half the functions on my keyboard or other products.

Whilst I appreciate the zeal, the evidence that I and others have is contradictory. Synapse and the Razer software isn't the issue with me... it's the hardware/drivers that appear to be conflicting.

On a limited and idiosyncratic set of information you have set up a cause and effect model in your head that is just... in the words of Pauli "That is not even false".

Don't spread supposition.

My issue was fixed after I unplugged my Razer huntsman mini keyboard, steam was able to launch and after I plugged it back in, it automatically closed

I don't have any Razer products or software. In fact I have a pretty fresh Windows 11 installation and a couple months old pc. The client has been broken for me ever since the August stable branch update (it was broken on my previous pc with Windows 10 as well).

The update from yesterday just exacerbated the existing problems exponentially. I had to revert it to just be able to get into the client again. Steamwebhelper.exe kept on crashing in a neverending loop.

SAme, I have a Razer keyboard, keypad and mouse. Turning off all razer apps didn't work but plugging out my keypad did.
Now I'm so used to my keypad I cant play without it, really annoying.

So let me get this right. I have to disable all my razer products just to access steam and not be able to play any game because it’s all either unplugged or uninstalled razer products I use to play these games. Pure genius. Back where I started not playing anything lol

how do i create the cfg file?

Amy text editor, like notepad. Makes sure the extension is cfg, not txt (per the guide)

I also had this issue and I'm using a razor keyboard and mouse. It did not matter whether synapse was running or not. The only solution was to follow the step to roll back to older version of steam and force it not to update with the config file. Remember previous steam client version works perfectly fine with Razor products and Synapse. The latest steam update does not. Valve needs to fix it.

Very eye opening that all my games I paid for can be taken away in a instant since there's a dependency on Steam not having fatal bugs.
