Aborted due to failure error
So for a few weeks now I’ve been playing PokeMMO on my steam deck. Normally when it needs an update I just switch to desktop mode and update the game through there.

Today, however, I’ve run into an error. I originally tried to fix it by restarting the deck. Didn’t work, so I then uninstalled and tried to reinstall the flatpak, however now I can’t even install it and I’m getting this issue:
“Aborted due to failure (wrong size for extra data https://dl.pokemmo.com/download/PokeMMO-Client.zip”

I’m pretty new to using the steam deck so hoping there’s a relatively easy to understand fix for this.

Hey, so I had the same problem after the recent update and just couldnt get it to work and I literally tried everything apart from reinstalling SteamOS.

I eventually got it to run using this guide from the PokeMMO forum:

https://forums.pokemmo.com/index.php?/topic/149313-pokemmo-on-steamos-steam-deck/#comment-1929881

The benefit of this is that its the "official" way to do it as intended by the PokeMMO developers. The flatpak is actually not made by them but by the community.
The drawback is that its a little more work and not as hassle free as a flatpak regarding updates etc

Hope that helps

Thanks for getting back to me! Turns out I ended up trying it this way myself near the end of the day that I posted this and I can confirm it also worked for me - didn't turn out to take that long installing it as I expected either so all in all definitly a good work around!
