deadzone question
(hope this is a good discussion here)

okay so last friday when i start up l4d2 i discovered something bad about my controller (xbox 360 afterglow controller btw if anyone curious) where my character was moving himself slowly and of course i was worried that it might be drifting but not until someone told me that it was a deadzone (and yes i fix it and put it around 1800 and same goes for the other stick as well) and also before that i test it in other games like cyberpunk, fc3 blood dragon and no drift but only l4d2 (like i said before i manage to fix it and put it to 1800) but i have some questions like maybe a few

1.what is a deadzone? and what cause of it? (and maybe when it was discovered?)

2.should i be worried about it and will it comeback on my afterglow controller or effect my other controllers? (again and one more time i put it on 1800)

3.is there any prevent from the deadzone or fix it too?

4.is it even possible for steam deck too? (have one)

5.if the deadzone effect on l4d2? can it effect other games too?

Deadzone is a tool to fix issues like controller drift. Deadzone means the distance you need to push your control stick before the game registers it as an input, the higher the deadzone value, the farther you need to push the stick. This can be used to eliminate stick drifting on older worn out sticks.

A game character moving slowly on its own is a sign of drifting, and you can fix it by adjusting the deadzone value up slightly.

Edit: sorry, missed the part you said you adjusted the settings already

I see interesting but there’s questions that didn’t got my answer yet for starters

Will it comeback? And be worried as well? And effect my afterglow controller again? And same goes for other controllers I have as well?

(I feel like there’s already an answer but better safe than sorry) there’s a way to prevent it too?

And what about steam deck? And affect other games too? Either fps, platform etc?
