* Redeeming RETAIL wallet cards or topping up Steam wallet balance using an EXTERNAL payment method (credit card or a local equivalent) counts.
* BUYING (not receiving!) a digital gift card to gift it to ANOTHER person using an EXTERNAL payment method (credit card or local equivalent) counts.
* Buying games or software on Steam using an EXTERNAL (not wallet balance) payment method counts.
* GIFTING (not receiving!) games or software on Steam using an EXTERNAL (not wallet balance) payment method counts.
The following does NOT count against the $5 and does NOT unlimit the account:
* Redeeming an activation key
* RECEIVING a DIGITAL gift card as a form of gift.
* RECEIVING games or software as a form of gift.
* Buying items on the Steam marketplace using WALLET balance instead of an external payment method (TOPPING UP wallet balance using an external payment method however counts).
* Buying games or software on Steam using using WALLET balance instead of an external payment method (TOPPING UP wallet balance using an external payment method however counts).
Be aware that you can lose the unlimited user status if your lifetime purchase record falls below $5 due to currency fluctuations.
In addition, to be eligible for the Community Market, you must have bought a game or topped up your wallet balance using a retail wallet card (digital doesn't count) or external payment method no less than 7 days and no later than 365 days ago.
$5 USD, or equivalent meant to make account unlimited, this is one time, not recurring.
The 2nd system is related to market place you must have a transaction within 365 days, and transaction must be older than 7 days. This means if you bought cheapest game for $0.50 cents, this created a transaction, let say you did it on May 1st 2024, now only have to wait till May 8th 2024 hence transaction must be 7 days old, you have access to market place until May 1st 2025 hence transaction must be within 365 days. To renew this, you simply buy something to create new transaction on account, let say you decide to buy a skin in-game, or something for $1 on November 2th 2024, now your new time for 365 days is November 2nd 2025, thF simple.
