Slow download speeds

Okay so I have a question see below

So I am trying to download a game on steam but it’s maxing out on 1.2Gbps but my home internet and card are both 2.5Gbps capable. I get full speed via Epic etc . My pc specs are below

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5600X

NVME: Silicon Power PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD 512GB Gen3x4 R/W up to 2, 200/1, 600MB/s Internal SSD

RAM: 32GB

Has anyone else had an issue downloading at the full speed of there internet?

Well I wouldn't say 1.2Gbps is slow. The thing to remember is Epic and Steam are different systems, and Steam's download can sometimes be I/O intensive which may limit your speeds.

Other than that you'll have to do some troubleshooting to find out what the root issue is and whether it's something you can control. And that's going to take a smidge more than saying, "but Epic..."

Oh yes, people are constantly fussing over download speeds. A forum search would reveal that.

Steam downloads in compressed chunks, once a chunk is down it gets decompressed and installed. Your DL speed may be that faster the CPU and/or Drive can't handle downloading so fast whilst simultaneously decompressing and installing.

Open Task manager and see what CPU and the Drives usage % is at when this happens
