lagging issues while streaming
ive tried streaming 4k videos on discord with friends and I experienced zero lag and could easily skip through the video without even needing to load, my download is 100mbps and my upload is almost 40mbps and yet the moment I try to stream a game from steam it lags so bad to the point where I cant hear anybody in the call and it'll go from green connection to red someone please help i tried changing the settings on steam to the least powerful in the library and it still hasnt worked, I've tried asking everywhere and searching everywhere and haven't found a fix for this

Sadly I cannot help you further, as I havent streamed for many years yet.

Steam has some more options about Braodcasting/Streaming, check:

Steam > Settings > Broadcast >
- Video Dimensions
- Maximum Bitrate
- Optimize encoding for ..

I read your original statement again and the only thing I can say is "Correlation does not imply causation"

If you start a stream and everything goes laggy then it is likely you are hitting your bandwidths limit. If you have a 100mbps line and a 40mbps upload then your lines max capability is 140mbps, so if you only have a CAT5 cable then youre over that limit. I would suggest making sure that your Cable between your main router and the breakout (where the cable actually plugs into a fibre box or the wall) is Cat5E minimum as well as not damaged in anyway and also plug your device into the router instead of connecting VIA WIFI, streaming over WIFI is not a good idea.

Some routers have the ability to display the current usage statistics, so I can for example start a download and go into my routers settings page and see that my current usage is 100% of my line speed, Then I can clearly see that if I start gaming whilst its at max capacity or streaming etc then everything else will be laggy.

Unless you set up a QOS or QUE system to alleviate this but that is only available on more advanced routers
I may know a fix that worked for me very well. I had the exact same issue, and even read this thread before, and figured it was just my internet, but later I actually figured out it had to do with my fullscreen, and it might be for you too. By going into the game on steam and browsing local files, right click the executable file and go to properties, and then compatibility, and then check "disable fullscreen optimizations"

After this, I never had another issue with any game on steam with streaming. You will have to do this for every game, and if the executable gets changed, you will need to check it there too.

I really hope this helped, I feel for you man

P.S Sorry im really late to the conversation, I bet you have already fixed it by now. But I will still leave this here for anyone else with the same issue
