I was scammed out of 10 TF2 keys, what to do?
Basically the person who did this told me that he will gift me a game if I trade him 10 TF2 keys. He said I need to give him the keys first and then he will give me the game. After I traded him the keys he just blocked and unfriended me. Is there anything I can do or lesson learned?

You gave them away for free in valves eyes. So take it as a lesson learned.

On their FAQ they consider this a scam. Will this guy get a punishment at least? They can see our chat logs and the trades and everything.

No. You were warned that all trades are final.

You gave them away for free.
You can report his account if you feel like it, but don't expect any actual results.

Take it as a lesson to not be so gullible in the future.

You can report them and block them all you can do. Steam will not give items or money back that was lost in a scam.

A person nicely and politely asking for help after being scammed on Steam gets an immediate ban for "naming and shaming"; I saw the removed post. Pretty sure Steam moderation has just now created yet another person very, very unimpressed with Steam after even minimal actual interaction with this platform. Steam is really going places...

like a lot of angry people

op came in hot and did the name and shame

like a lot of time

nice people warned them not to

that it was against the rules and could get them in trouble

like a few

op decided that they were going to keep it there and got in trouble for it

like they were told they would

Being scammed and being upset doesn't change which rules apply to a user.

Would you be okay is another poster claimed that they were scammed and named you as the scammer?

Anyone can make up stories.

I warned the OP about it and suggested they remove the link. I actually edited out the alleged users link in the quote before posting my comment so to not be braking the rules myself. Whilst I didn't get banned the comment, that broke 0 rules, got deleted...

Old mods would have allowed my warning/recommendation and given the OP chance to delete/remove the link so as to not be braking forum rules.

What I am not okay with is, as was more or less spelled out immediately as well, the ban. It's not too much to ask of moderation to in a case like this e.g. delete the post and hit a "Warn Name & Shame" button that warns the poster and adds boilerplate explanation as to why.

We have a scammed "sad" user who is by having fallen for things in the first place seemingly somewhat new to the let us say rather morally underwhelming platform and especially "community" that is Steam, i.e., who would as such never have given thought to stolen/hijacked accounts being used for scams, finding him/herself as a victim of said platform being instead treated as a perpetrator by Steam moderation/suppport.

"Not too much to ask for" -- unless you're one of the Steam forum-regulars whom and irrespective of what happens in whatever context find fault to always lie with the user rather than with Steam. Because that makes them sound way cooler.

Yes, that would have been very, very much preferred.

OP has 113 pages of posts, you dont know if he got in Trouble before, the Mods do.
Chances are he broke the rules before, so they issued a Ban instead of just a Warning.
