Set Game Details to "Private" but friends getting spammed with notifications?
Under my profile -> edit profile -> My Privacy Settings, I have set the "Game Details" setting to "Private", which shouldn't notify people that I am playing a game or when I boot one up.

However, whenever I am playing CSGO, my friends complain that their Steam clients keep sending them notifications in the top right that I am playing CSGO, non stop, and the only way to turn it off is to change the Privacy Setting to "Friends Only".

Why is this happening? Does this happen to anyone else? How can I make it stop but still have my game details be private? This ONLY occurs when I play CSGO, no other game has this issue.

I have the same issue when I do private my games. And I've also been on the other end where I see it spam constantly.

Have you found a way around this? Only thing I see is a box in Friend Settings to disable notifications when a friend joins a game or custom per-friend notifications. There has to be a way to disable this on my end!

Sadly I've not found a resolve. Hopefully someone will chime in and give us more of an idea what may be going on. I only was able to answer your question about is anyone else experiencing this.

It is a bug with the setting.
