Move your game to your current common folder, and move the game .acf files to the Steamapp folder, restart Steam, and your Steam should see your game, as long the .acf is correct.
The game is always in the common folder.
Steam > Steamapp > Common.
Steam reads in this folder 1st > Steamapp, it reads the all the appmanifest_######.acf files there, as it tells the client what games installed, and checks if it need to be updated, or not. Steam will launch the game .exe when you click play, which then search for the game folder in the common folder.
appmanifest_######.acf The ##### replace with the game ID. Use steamdb.info to search for the game ID. Example appmanifest_65540.acf that for game called Gothic.
