I'm on firefox and I get a similar issue, but instead of the error I just get a blank white screen.
Same. Proper PITA.

Also broken for me as well, and also got the canned response from support about already aware and then close my ticket, this is really lame honestly would be nice to at least get some kind of reasoning.

I made a post on this several pages back. Instead of opening the Steam Website directly on your current browser session, you'll need to open a "Private Session" Window. If you don't know how to do that, you MUST Right Click on any weblink you want to open Privately, in this case Steam, then choose the "Open in a Private Window" option. Once opened you'll need to re-login into your Steam Profile as a Private Window opens webpages WITH COOKIES DISABLED. but once you do you will be able to link your Youtube account to Steam, with the caveat that it'll only work during the Midnight Steam Reset as others noted.

As for other Browsers like Edge and Chrome, I do not know the exact equivalent to a Private Window Session on them but if you do that'd be what you'll want to use to open Steam.

And here's a little tip too... Log in to Steam a few minutes BEFORE the Midnight Steam Reset to shave off a few minutes off of the log in process, if like myself your typing skills are a little slow. Then once it is exactly Midnight Steam time that's when you click on the "Link your Youtube Account" button on the "Content > videos" section of your Steam Profile.

That didn't seem to work for me, also what exactly is the midnight steam reset?

Since this has become a Discord channel: I'm gonna upload this to 'Evil Dead The Game' (AKA Dead: The Game) community

Nice. I think this is cool AF. Subscribed I am!

I uploaded this about two weeks ago. I kinda' stopped because I didn't want the Steam crowd falling behind my full on Youtube crowd, but honestly I should've just kept making and probably will be recording a couple things the next few days. It's just a basic DooM Let's play featuring the first level of one of my old fav megawad maps.

As I said, it only seems to work during the Steam Midnight Reset which is 12AM PST. If you do not know when that is in your local time, just look it up on Google.

unfortunately steam most likely won't get this fixed anytime soon :( if you need to upload videos, just wait till its close to Midnight Pacific Time - and if your not in that timezone, just goto a site where you can see what time it is in your location based on that - you'll be able to get in for only a short duration when the server does a soft reboot, after that, it starts to fail anywhere from 1-7 minutes in. If your fast enough, you should be able to get your videos uploaded to youtube before its process crashes for the rest of the day -

Below is a video showing the HTTP ERROR 500, then once it hits 00:00 (Midnight Pacific) on the clock in the top right, doing a browser refresh or hitting the reload button will bring up the proper video uploading page - it then fails back to the HTTP ERROR 500 about 7 min in. - for the last few days, a few of us have been able to get our videos posted. It does suck for some, since it can be really late depending on the timezone your living in - https://youtu.be/qFTdHBpupAk

Thanks for sharing. I'm in mountain time, but I work early in the morning some days and I can't just do that reliably. I'd rather be able to upload anytime I want.

100% factual truth!
12AM PST where I'm from is 3PM in the afternoon at least. But 1PM PST, the usual time a Steam Sale starts and ends is 2AM the next day though. So the usual Thursday 1PM PST Steam Sale actually starts on a Friday at 2AM.

yeah, wish they would just get a tech to go in and fix whatever is killing the server process - my guess is that there's some code incompatibilty on the server related to the signin change that google / youtube implemented recently. - Because of this, the process dies - then at midnight pacific (where the steam server is located) it does a soft reboot bringing everything back up - but because of the changes and the steam server not being updated to reflect the google / youtube signin page changes, the process eventually overloads and then is killed - and it stays dead till it does the next soft reboot at the end of the day.

Because this issue is caused from both ends, Valve needs their Tech to contact their Google's IT rep, or whoever is the Network Engineer and/or System's Admin on Google's end, and work on figuring out where the problem is in the line code.

But as it is, i think Valve/Steam most likely considers it a low importance issue. Because of that, we most likely won't see this getting fixed anytime soon :(
