It's not for your security, it's for Steam's security. The buyer might have used an untrusted or new payment method, hence Steam waits until the payment is cleared as legitimate.

Check the e-mail of the sale for more details.

Not everything that occurs that you find inconvenience is punitive against you. There are more concerns beyond users expecting instantaneous market transactions to fund their account. And you're going to have to adjust your expectations and planning a little bit if you plan on continuing to use the market to fund your account.

It's pretty clear where you already stand when you refer to Valve that way, and that no answer is going to satisfy you. But, yes, it's always the aholes that ruin it for everyone else. That's life and you'll see more of it as time goes on. From now on, just assume that a sale on the market will incur a hold of funds for a few days.

That's nice but it has absolutely no bearing on the purchaser and the payment method they are using to make the purchase of your item. It isn't your money until it is verified and deemed clean. Waiting a couple of days tops is far better than finding out down the line that the transaction was fraudulent and the money, along with every proceed you purchased is removed from your account.
