Will I lose my saves if I uninstall a game to reinstall it in a different disk?
Hi!

I'm trying to update BG3 (17.39GB) but I keep getting the message that there's not enough free space. However, there's 71,7GB of free space in the disk. I deleted some files, checked there was no corruption, verified the files, etc. But the problem remains. For what I'v been seeing in Steam forums, this problem's been going on with different games since, at least, 2018.

I think the only solution would be for me to uninstall the game from it's current disk (E) and install it ina new one (925GB of free space). Now, my question is: would I lose my saves if I do so? I've been playing for over 65 hours now. I'd hate to lose all that progress.

Most of the time. There are a few exceptions.

@OP, nothing is stopping you from backing up save games before making major changes. It's better to have a backup you don't need, than need a backup and not have it. IT 101. Generally save games aren't located in the game's install directory, and most of the time uninstalling/reinstalling or modifying aren't going to affect save games located in a different part of the file system. But it's worth double checking because long enough timeline you're bound to hit an edge case.
