Steam app stuck in reboot loop

I try to run steam and it does a update check, verifies user login and then looks like it's booting up, the app is full screen with the steam logo and the circle moving around it like it's loading up but after about 15-20 seconds it just closes and comes back up. Tried restarting my computer, I can stop the process from task manager which I have to do sometimes since whenever it closes and reloads it always pops up over everything else.

it look like a update that cant update with lost rights. but we have seen other post that delete steam userdata in windows user profile.

I started to have the same problem last night, and it seems that it is related to the library. If you're on Windows and have the starting page set to library, I have a temporary solution:

1. Hold windows key and hit R.
2. Paste this command: steam://open/console
3. Hit enter.

This will load the console page for Steam. The catch is that you can't click on library or you risk starting the loop again. When Steam loads, go to Steam > Settings > Interface, then change start up location to something other than library. This way, you won't have to do this trick every time you open Steam.

Other solutions such as running Steam as administrator, deleting Steam folders, or reinstalling didn't work.

I think that when I did it, it did the loop and came up with a box with several choices, and I chose to restart with GPU acceleration disabled. I already had this disabled in the options and had tried this choice before; the only difference this time was using the run command.

Read the other post from 1-3 days ago about loop, some other steam user mentions a collections issue.


Do not have low disk space, steam is not going to fix user runout of disk space. anything lesser then last 200gb on a 2tb disk can be seen as low disk space if game is 100gb full dl patch from game devs.

you might say last 500gh free space, the bigger the game are. ( we are past 25gb or 50gb as big games ) and we dont controll game devs full final DL patch here. )

example fallout4 is 93gb.

You could have just deleted everything except steamapps, userdata, and the steam executable to avoid this.

I'M here to update this if anyone encounters this. That trick won't work anymore here's the new trick. Just go to go to drive letter:\your user name\AppData\Local and delete steam folder. Upon opening steam again you will be prompt to LOG IN again. Done simple as that! Cheers!
