If your OS is 7.6 gigs you won't be able to fit your games on there lol
More info? How large is the install? What are you installing to???
The problem is FAT32 only supports files up to 4GB in size, and the SteamOS installer/install file is 7.6GB?

Well first question, why do you have to use FAT32? FAT32 is old, and you've run into one of the limitations that makes it undesirable on modern systems. There's other file system formats, why not use one that's better suited for larger file sizes?
You don't

No one uses FAT32 anymore. Its either NTFS or exFAT on things like SD cards.
did this work on NTFS ? i cannot setup it
Depends on what Steam provides. Probably exFAT as NTFS is windows

From what I looked up, SteamOS apparently uses EXT4 as its file system.

Why in the everloving ♥♥♥♥ would anyone want to use FAT32 for anything but trivial storage (photos or something like that) in 2024?
steam os uses EXT4 not fat32 or ntfs
Are you looking at the old version of SteamOS for the old Steam Machines? That's not really a thing anymore. What's there is extremely outdated and not recommended for use by anyone.

Valve is working on a version of SteamOS 3 that runs on any PC, but it's not ready. For now if you're looking for some kind of SteamOS to use on an ordinary PC (IE: Not a Steam Deck.), try something like Bazzite[bazzite.gg], which is very good and can provide a SteamOS like experience.
