How to stop controller controlling PC while playing games on steam?

So moving my left stick up and down alters volume, pressing the left sick plays music or video in the background, one of the buttons completely mutes all audio... it also presses random buttons in game as if they were keyboard inputs. And all of this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happens when I'm trying to play Apex. How do I stop this? It only happens when I have Steam open.

This indeed DOES helps. Thank you so much man, i'm going crazy from looking for the answer for 2 hours while restarting the gamepad driver for like 4 times.
