Remote Play when not on the same LAN as your gaming PC?
There's been one or two questions raised about using remote play to stream from a PC at home to a PC on a different network for example work or a cafe. I can't seem to find a conclusive answer though to the question of whether this is possible.

It seems some people are saying that no, this isn't possible, to use remote play the computer you want to play on has to be on the same network as the computer running the game.

Other people are saying yes this is possible and that they regularly stream their games to computers outside their home network, but nothing to indicate anyone has worked out why it is available for some and not for others. For me right now it is not available when I'm away from home (but the stream to this PC launch option is available if it am on my home network).

Steam's own help pages don't seem very conclusive at all, with one troubleshooter saying to check the PCs are on the same subnet (not just the same LAN but the same subnet too) and other official guides suggesting that you can remote play from anywhere with internet access provided both steam clients are up to date, the game supports it, and you are logged in on both clients.

Can anyone at least confirm whether it's possible. I couldn't figure out if it was maybe something that used to be possible but was deprecated, or vice versa and just at least want to know if I'm wasting my time trying to find a way to do it.

Remote Play "Anywhere" works anywhere.

Only exceptions would be on mobile networks that block gaming ports.

I can confirm that. I was successfully (as in "no hassle") able to stream games both to my phone (callular) and my Deck (landline @ a friend's).
