how to completely remove MSFS and reinstall without having to repurchase
I tried to verify files, after that ran it downloaded 130gb of data, but I still have the same issues. I don't mind downloading again, but don't want to have to buy it again. how can I safely remove it from steam so I can do a fresh install?

Right click the game in your Library > Manage > Uninstall.

When it's done click the big blue install button.

You're not required to repurchase the game just because you uninstalled it.

Should you not get same error, then validate game intergrity of Files is actual same as reinstall it,

ps.
only mods and corrupted files can be a issue, and sense you dont explan what the problem is then i doubt it will help at all. ( and how come you think rebuying it is needed,

steam has a bind to account then refund policeý is gone.

Licenses
https://store.steampowered.com/account/licenses/

and this post belong to MSFS own Forurm, there most be MSFS experts there that know better whats wrong.if you explan this to them.

Thanks for the reply. My issue is some controls I can no longer assign to my controllers, like the landing gear and flaps. I can manipulate them interacting with the cockpit using my mouse, but even though the controls are assigned to a button, they do not work. There are others that are also affected, but those two are the most inconvenient and take away from the simulation.

Even though validating the files resulted in a very large download, the problem persists. When the downloads were complete everything was as I left it, so the configuration and setup files were not replaced. I'm okay with starting over from day 1, but don't want to loose the license in the process.

Have you tried asking in the game's forum?

I gave it a try. The uninstall didn't remove anything that validating the files didn't replace. I checked as many places as I could think of and deleted other files left behind, like Appdata. When I thought it was all gone I reinstalled. When it started back up I was right where I had left off, with no changes at all. I still have the same problem, so this didn't help at all. Thanks.

Check your appdata files for where the game may have saves as this is common for a lot of games if it's a save issue.

If this is over your saved data that should help unless the game itself links such info to your steam account and they don't allow you to delete it for good as some games do that.

You should post in the game forums this is for to get the help you need as this sounds like a specific game issue and general steam forums is not for that use usually.
