WTF - Steam Deck Desktop Mode User Interface Nightmare

I spent a few hours goring about how to change the size of the system user interface in KDE Plasma on the steam deck desk top. I have been through all the settings and nothing seems to make the system UI larger so that I dont have to squint. The screen resolution in display settings is locked at 800x600 resolution. I configured increasing the font size which helped a little bit but the issue remaiins the same. Messing with the global scaling doesnt change the resolution of the system UI. The system user interface is to small to comfortably navigate. does anybody have a fix for this
