Steam Input on Linux

Hello everyone, I recently installed linux and got steam up and running. I am having issues with my controller however. I am using a Stadia controller connected via bluetooth. It registers on both https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad and in steam big picture but does nothing in game.

I have generic controller enabled and steam input enabled. When I boot up Hogwarts Legacy the controller is non existent. I can bring up the steam menu and move around that with the controller but the game only recognises mouse and keyboard as an input. Any tips to solve this?

I have tried both the developer provided template as well as the generic gamepad template. Neither work in game. Just steam.
