Trade Banned and there is no reason presented
My account got trade-locked for a unknown amount of time and I also don't know when this restriction started since I didn't receive any notification about it. Just now I attempted to trade and it kept showing error 'you cannot trade with [user]'. I attempted to seek some reasoning behind my restriction but on the steam support forum for 'trading>understanding why I cannot trade' there is no reason presented only a sentence saying that my account is restricted. Is anyone aware of how I can unrestraint my account or find a reason as to why this restriction occurred? I have steam guard, recent purchases, and not game-bans or trade-bans (I Have a VAC ban but that only applies to my CSGO items). Also, I'm wondering if its because I might've gotten spam reported, is that possible?

It's something new that Valve is doing.

It's a new form of measurement against API scam bots who clone profiles to deceive the victim into giving the items to the scammer's bot instead of a trusted friend for "evacuation".

You should be able to trade within a few hours again. The exact time is not known.

The trade ban is only a few of hours (2-4 maybe). Enough to throw a wrench into the plans of someone trying to reroute a trade, but not so long as to overly inconvenience someone.

We aren't talking about that kind of ban.

Steam is now applying a short trade ban (2-4 hours) to ANY account that changes their profile name to anything, even something acceptable.

It would be kinda sad if the cooldown also applies to moderated names.

Maybe people should be more careful with their profile name choice and try not to be too edgy with it. Then they wouldn't risk getting their name moderated.

Its not getting edgy, I had a link to a gambling website I used to gamble Rust skins. I guess they are trying to prevent that....

I've seen more than a few accounts where their name, and name history, gets censored because of 3rd party trading/gambling sites. Given that those are a major source of accounts getting hijacked, they don't want people advertising them here.

Even if you haven't had any issues, you might want to make sure there are no API keys on your account. If there are, you should probably secure your account.
